#truMadrid, the next big unconference for recruiters

desconferencia truMadridFollowing the success of TRU events in London, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Dublin, San Francisco and Paris, #truMadrid will touch down in Madrid on 9th and 10th May.

It will be the first TRU recruiting ‘unconference’ to take place in Spain and will be held at the ‘Madrid Emprende’ centre.

So what are TRU events?

Well, they’re events that are organized all over the world where the primary aim is to encourage conversation, communication and a free exchange of ideas and experiences, where everything (dis)organized by the well-known British recruiter Bill Boorman.

The events are based on the idea of an UnConference or BarCamp. This means that everyone who attends is given the chance to participate actively instead of just sitting and listening to speakers and watching presentations all day.

Who is it aimed at?

Participants tend to come from the recruitment sector (both corporate and third party), HR, talent acquisition, branding, social media, technology development and vendors.

The rules:

  1. No presentations: the best way of sharing our knowledge is by uniting people from all different backgrounds so they can share their knowledge freely.
  2. No PowerPoints: we want every single person who attends to be able to contribute on an equal level and have the same opportunity to be heard.
  3. No pitches: if people are going to buy they will do it for what you’re saying, not for what you’re pitching.
  4. No name tags: if you don’t know someone, introduce yourself!
  5. No dress code: everyone should feel at ease at this event so that they are better able to focus on the discussions taking place.

What Tracks will be discussed?

Well this could be any of a number of things. For a taster, here are some of the things that have been discussed at previous TRU events: Twitter Success Stories, Campus to Career, Social Footprints, the future of technology, mobile apps, social recruiting, branding, the real cost of engagement, spectacular SEO, talent management, recruitment technology, the candidate’s experience, referral recruitment, compelling content, recruiting 3.0 and TruGrads.
